About Employer : Staff Selection Commission (SSC)

The Staff Selection Commission is an organization under the Government of India. Its head office is located in the capital Delhi.

The task of the Staff Selection Commission is to recruit non-technical groups ‘C’ and ‘B’ to non-gazetted posts in the Ministries, Departments and Offices of the Government of India. It is the responsibility of the Staff Selection Commission to formulate policies, including the planning of the examinations and other procedures, so that government examinations and selection tests can be conducted properly. It was earlier called the “Subordinate Services Commission”, then later changed to ‘Staff Selection Commission’ in 1977.

The Combined Graduate Level Examination process of SSC is done in four stages. In Tier I and Tier II, a computer-based online examination is conducted, in which objective type questions are asked. Whereas in Tier III personality tests (interviews) are taken. Tier IV i.e. the fourth stage consists of skill test, computer proficiency test and verification of documents. Subsequently, the All India Merit List is released by the Staff Selection Commission for each category of posts, which includes the names of candidates who have passed the online government examination.
