Selection Criteria of Navy MR Recruitment

In this recruitment process, candidates will undergo a three-staged selection procedure. Here’s a brief overview of each stage:

Stage-I (INET)

The selection process involves three stages, with the initial stage being Shortlisting. Candidates will undergo an All India computer-based examination known as INET for this phase. Shortlisting will be based on the marks obtained in the Indian Navy Entrance Test and will be conducted on a state-wise basis. Cut-off marks for shortlisting may vary across states due to the allocation of vacancies on a state-wise basis.

Exam Details:

  • Type: Computer-Based Examination.
  • Medium: The question paper will be available in Hindi and English.
  • Total Marks: 50 Marks.
  • Number of Questions: 50 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
  • Duration: 30 Minutes.
  • Syllabus: The question paper will consist of two sections: ‘Science & Mathematics’ and General Awareness.
  • Negative Marking: There will be negative marking for wrong answers. For each incorrect answer, one-fourth (0.25) of the marks assigned to the question will be deducted.
  • Passing Criteria: Candidates must pass in all sections as well as in aggregate. The Indian Navy reserves the right to determine the pass marks for each section and in aggregate.

Stage-II (Written Exam, PFT and Initial Medical)

Candidates who are shortlisted based on their performance in the INET examination (computer-based online examination) will receive a call-up letter for Stage II. Stage II comprises a written examination, Physical Fitness Test (PFT), and Initial Medical examination. This stage will be conducted at specified centers designated by the Indian Navy. The syllabus for the written exam in Stage II is accessible on the official website of the Indian Navy. It’s important to note that an Aadhar Card is mandatory for Stage II.

The Physical Fitness Test (PFT): It’s a crucial step in the selection process, and it is imperative that candidates successfully pass this test to progress further in their application. Failure to qualify in the PFT will result in candidates being unable to proceed to the next stages of the selection process. It’s important to note that candidates participating in the PFT do so at their own risk, taking full responsibility for their involvement.

Now, let’s delve into the specifics of the Physical Fitness Test, outlining the various components, duration, and any other relevant details to ensure candidates are well-prepared for this assessment.

Note: The written examination and physical fitness test will be conducted on the same day.

Initial Medical Examination: Upon successful completion of the Physical Fitness Test (PFT), candidates will proceed to undergo the Initial Medical Examination. This examination will determine the candidates’ initial medical fitness status. Candidates who pass this examination will be categorized as “Provisionally fit subject to fitness in the final medical examination”.

Merit List: The Merit List will be compiled considering the performance in the Stage-II written examination, contingent upon qualification in both the Physical Fitness Test and Initial Medical Examination. For Agniveer (MR) male and female candidates, the Merit List will be formulated based on state-wise merit. It’s worth noting that the cut-off marks for the issuance of call-up letters for the final recruitment examination at INS Chilka may differ from state to state.

Stage-III (Final Medical Examination)

The Final Recruitment Medical Examination for all selected candidates will take place at INS Chilka. Candidates who are deemed medically fit during this examination will proceed with the recruitment process. However, candidates found medically unfit will have the option to appeal against the findings, if they wish to do so, at either INHS Nivarini or INHS Kalyani within a maximum period of 21 days. It’s important to note that no further review or appeal beyond this period will be allowed.
